The Skyranger is available with engine mounts to suit Rotax 503, Rotax 582, Rotax 912, Rotax 912 ULS, Jabiru 2200, and HKS 700E. Engine mounts are also available to suit most VW conversions although some work will be required on the engine cowls to accommodate these engines. The Nynja kit includes engine mounts for only Rotax 912 series engines.
Fabric covering options
The Skyranger comes complete with high quality German Dacron covering available in many colours (see below). It is highly recommended that the Dacron be clear coated with UV protectant to extend the life of the cloth. The best and cheapest solution for Australian conditions is plain white Dacron, painted to your own requirements. The white Dacron can be easily painted with acrylic paint, in any colour you choose. This gives a very good finish and excellent UV protection.
X- Lam Fabric
The Skyranger and Nynja are also available with an optional improved covering called X-Lam. Originally designed for extreme marine use it comprises a Dacron internal layer with a high tech plasticised coating on both sides. It boasts zero porosity, superior tear resistance and up to three times the UV resistance of untreated Dacron. X-Lams main advantage over Clear coated or Painted Dacron is that it can be easily removed from the aircraft for minor repairs and yet is still slightly lighter than lacquered Dacron. X-Lam is available in White only. X-Lam can be easily personalised using self adhesive vinyl stripes or graphics.
The Skyranger and Nynja wheel spat option includes fibreglass wheel spats for all three wheels. All fibreglass work on Skyranger and Nynja is finished in gel coat white and may be painted any colour you choose during the build. The advantages of spats are that they stop mud being thrown up when operating on damp strips and they also add a couple of knots to the cruise speed. They look good too.
The floats of different manufactures can be installed on Skyranger or Nynja. We can supply details on request.
A spacer is available for the main wheel hub to enable larger tyres (600x6 or 800x6) to be fitted to the standard wheel rims. Recommended for very rough strip operation.
Long Range Wing Tanks
Standard fuel tanks for the Skyranger and Nynja are two 30 litre plastic tanks which mount behind the seats and work very well. Over a long period I have worked with the manufacturer to give us here in Australia an option for larger tanks. A 90 litre Aluminium tank was tried with some success however W&B issues were limiting. Long range wing tanks are now available in Australia. The welded aluminium tanks provide 52 litres each side and can be easily retro-fitted to any Skyranger or Nynja.(ref." Documents" on this site for wing tank fitting instructions). Fitting wing tanks frees the area behind the seats for additional baggage, increases range and to some extent reduces the load on the airframe. The wing tanks cannot be combined with the folding wing option described below.
Folding wing kit
A folding wing kit is available for the Skyranger and the Nynja. This kit was designed in the UK where hangar costs can be very high. The kit enables one person to fold the wings for storage. The kit is not designed to enable the aircraft to be trailered with its wings folded. (ref "documents" for the wing fold kit fitting instructions)
Stainless Steel Exhaust.
This CKP stainless steel exhaust system simply bolts on to the Rotax 912 series engine. It is more cost effective than the standard Rotax supplied stainless steel exhaust kit, unless you have plenty of time on your hands and the equipment to weld Stainless steel. It is of high quality and saves sooooo much time and effort. Highly recommended!
To Choose your colour(s).
